Additional Details

In this very early view of Seattle, the intersection of Pike Street and Second Avenue is in the foreground. The original print by Peterson had a printed key, which identifies the original University of Washington building dominating the hill to the left. The wreck of the ship Windward can be seen in the foreground part of the harbor; it now lies under the city's waterfront streets.
